The stars come out - for free - this weekend on the Common

Just in case you haven't heard, Boston Ballet celebrates its 50th anniversary this weekend by taking its "Night of Stars" gala to Boston Common - offered free to the city at 7 pm on Saturday night.  "Stars" is always a shining sample of the Ballet's best, but this year's edition - which will unfold on the largest stage ever built on Boston Common - will no doubt be a real dazzler, and will feature excerpts from the classics all the way to the cutting edge, with musical accompaniment ranging from Tchaikovsky to the Rolling Stones. Expect a large crowd, though - so arrive early; a special video presentation will begin onstage at 4 pm for early birds.  I'll see you there! (Rain date is Sunday - more information here.)
