The Catholic closet

This is off-topic, yes I know, but it's so funny I had to post it. Andrew Sullivan notes that many priests buy bulk communion wafers online, at amazon.com. Then he noticed exactly what "customers who bought this item also bought." (Scroll down and look to the right. I do wonder if the communion wafers and the Astroglide come in separate shipments!)

  1. Is it remotely possible that at least some of the communion wafer and Astroglide consumers are Catholic clergy fetishists? (I don't know the proper kink taxonomy.)

I have no idea how statistically significant these folk are, but I do know they exist.

  2. I've never met anyone with a communion wafer fetish. But you know, anything is possible.

  3. I don't really know what the clergy-fetishists actually do; I've only the sketchiest awareness of the rituals and sacrements, so I've no clue how they're subverted by the PVC-habit crowd.

What I know about Catholicism is more theological than ritual.

  5. Well, there was a period of my life where I cultivated the appearance of being naïve and impressionable, and so was frequently invited to all sorts of interesting places.

The big problem came when people started asking me my opinions.
