Department of Gutless Wonders

It has leaked out in the local blogosphere that the Boston Globe canned the above Doonesbury comic yesterday, apparently out of fear that Obama wouldn't actually win the presidential election. (Or was it that they thought its mild joke was too "controversial"?)

Sigh. Now do you understand how I feel about that pathetic paper?

  1. I get my Doonesbury emailed daily, so I had no idea that the strip was canned.

    What was controversial about the joke? Were they afraid that racists and purveyors of orthodox identity politics would be offended?

    Horrors! A white soldier identifying with the President-Elect then making an ironic (yet gentle) remark about the superficiality with which we discuss race in this country! This is a family paper!
